Dorothy Lea Haggard

Dorothy Lea Haggard, 90, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri passed away peacefully with her family and angels by her side on October 22nd, 2022.

Visitation will be held from 12-1pm with Funeral Services immediately following, on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, Missouri 64133. Burial at Newcomer’s Floral Hills Cemetery, Raytown, Missouri.

Dorothy was born February 2nd, 1932, in Worland, Missouri to Thomas Seth Arnold and Velda (Peacock) Arnold. She grew up and lived in the small rural communities of Hume and Foster, Missouri before moving to Kansas City in the early 1950’s.

In 1975, after marrying the love of her life, Ralph, she became an avid Model A’er and belonged to the Heart of America Model A Ford Club. Dorothy and Ralph spent most of their time with their Model A family enjoying activities, tours and the Model A Regional trips. They put many happy miles on their Model A Ford, even when the unexpected breakdowns would occur, you could always count on the “A” family to get you going again.

Dorothy loved collecting stuffed bears, watching the Hallmark Channel, and listening to George Strait on YouTube. She was finally able to see George Strait in concert in Feb 2012, as a surprise birthday gift from her family, which brought her tears of joy.

Dorothy loved her family immensely. She always looked forward to family gatherings which supplied good food, lots of craziness and laughter.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Judith Ann Haag (Jim) of Kansas City, Janice Lea Stoor (David) of Lee’s Summit, Dale LeAnn Callahan (Trent) of Mayview. 4 grandchildren, Kevin Rhule (Barbie) of Warsaw, Darrin Willoughby of Kansas City, Chad Willoughby of Raytown, and Jessica Callahan of Grain Valley. 5 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Ralph Haggard, mother Velda Finwick, father Thomas Seth Arnold, 2 sisters, Sarah Lounsbury, Sharon Landon and a great-grandson, Cameron Rice.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dorothy Haggard’s name, to the local Disabled American Veterans Chapter 2, 14605 E. 40 Hwy, Kansas City, MO 64136. There will also be a donation box available at the funeral home.

Lunch will be served following the graveside service at the DAV Chapter 2, address above.

    Looks like she lived a full. My Step Dad Jim Bowes was in the Model A club they may have known each other. He is gone too.
