Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute
Sharon Ruth Pena, 69, went to her heavenly home on October 30th 2022, with her family by her
side, after a difficult battle with Cancer. Her family, faith, and love of cooking were her greatest
passions in life.
Sharon was born to the late Edward Harold, and Laura Ruth Riley of Columbia, Mo on October
5th 1953. She was a graduate of Hickman High School in 1971. Then she began her long service
of 47 years of employment with Shelter Insurance in Columbia until she retired in October 2018.
She was a member of Christian Chapel for many years, as a child she attended First Assembly Of
God along with her family.
Sharon had a love language of cooking and baking for those she cared for. She also liked
supporting her nephews missions interests by baking cookies to sell. She enjoyed cooking big
family meals and hosting gatherings. She was found her happiest, being with her loved ones.
Sharon had a wonderful sense of humor, and easily found comic relief in many of life's most
difficult circumstances. Always laughing, she was found with much joy to her friends and
family.
Sharon was married to her husband Rocendo Ganzo Pena on July 12th 2002 and enjoyed 20
years together. She is survived by her husband Ganzo of Columbia, son Jon Adams and his
fiancé Heather Cashion of Columbia. Sharon had three grandchildren, Landin, Madilyn, and
Melody, and many nieces and nephews. Sister in law Sue Riley, many cousins and many friends.
Sharon was proceeded in death by her parents Edward and Laura Ruth Riley, her ex-husband
Melvin Ray Adams, her brother Robert “Bob” Riley, and nephew Kurt Riley.
A celebration of life service will be held at Columbia First Assembly in Columbia, MO on
Thursday, November 10th. Visitation will begin at 11am with a service to follow at 12pm.
