Michael was born October 23rd, 1958 in Bad Kreuznach, Germany. Michael was known as a man of very strong faith throughout his life and always aimed to display the love of Christ wherever he went. Michael called many places home, but held Texas especially close to his heart. It is there where he met the love of his life, Christina. They married in 1993. In 2001, they welcomed their only child, Alainna. He worked at Hantover Inc. at the front desk for close to 20 years. Michael was known for always greeting everyone with a smile and a “Hello!”. Michael was a lover of music and the Green Bay Packers. He always tried his best to never miss a game on the TV and supported them win or lose.
He was preceded in death by: wife, Christina J. Obenshain; father, Eidsell Obenshain; and his nephew, Dusty Wilson.
Survivors include: daughter, Alainna Obenshain; mother, Fay Bovis; siblings, Eidsell, Pat, Merri, and Thomas. He is also survived by many loving, extended family.
In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe was created to support his daughter, Lainney during this time, GOFUNDME-LAINNEY-OBENSHAIN.
Mike was such a kind, good natured soul. We worked together when he first started at Hantover. He was the Brother I never had growing up, and will be missed profoundly.
Im not close to the family, though i wish i could have been. Im his younger brother, Thomas’, stepdaughter. Uncle Mike was one of the silliest (in his own wonderful way) men i have ever met. One of the kindest. He made me feel like I was a part of the family and im heartbroken he’s gone.
I can definitely say this about him, lainney was the light of his life. The Packers definitely took 2nd when she was born. Rest in peace Uncle Mike, gone but definitely not forgotten…
I am extremely appreciative for the time Michael spent with me as a child. I will always cherish those memories of Michael, taking myself and a 10 yo Dusty to Denton every weekend to eat at a new restaurant and to watch a movie before acquiring Fay’s groceries for the week. (That is a small example)
The world will never be the same without you in it, Michael. Thank you for everything.
Godspeed, Bubba…
My dearest Mike, You will never know how much I miss you. I miss and think about you everyday. I am greatful I was by your side for your last 9 months. And equally greatful that we were able to relive our childhood memories. You were and are the greatest brother ever. I know without a doubt you are in heaven. Dusty and Larry were their to greet you for sure. Love you forever.
