Nancy Brown Dvorsky, age 92 of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on December 10, 2022.
She was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on July 2, 1930, daughter of the late Homer Brooks Brown, Sr. and Ida Brown (Beasley).
Nancy grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, and attended George Peabody College for Teachers (now Vanderbilt University), graduating in 1953 with a degree in Home Economics. She had resided in Overland Park, Kansas, since 1961.
Nancy’s life revolved around her family, and her love for her children and grandchildren was punctuated by a home cooked meal or freshly baked treat. Among her passions, cooking was at the top of the list. She was also an expert seamstress, and could regularly be found with knitting needles or crochet hook in hand.
She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, card games and especially Rummikub. An animal lover, Nancy counted many dogs and cats among her faithful companions, particularly in her later years. Her ability to tell stories was unmatched, each of which she was able to recount in vivid detail – even those from her formative years. Her southern accent, hearty laugh, and trademark greeting of, “Hi Honey”, will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her three sons, Garret (Cindy) Dvorsky, Christopher Dvorsky, and Andrew Dvorsky (Suzanne, mother of grandchildren); nieces Susan (Tae) Kim and Lynn Vargo; five grandchildren, Carley Dvorsky, Drew Dvorsky, Will Dvorsky, Trent Dvorsky and Nathan Dvorsky,
A visitation at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m., will take place on January 14, 2023 at Atonement Lutheran Church, 9948 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas. A reception at Johnny Cascone’s, 6863 W 91st St, Overland Park, Kansas, will immediately follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in Nancy’s name be made to The Good Samaritan Foundation – Kansas/Olathe (https://support.good-sam.com).

August 2023. I am just now learning of Nancy’s passing. She was my cousin whom I thoroughly enjoyed talking to up until her latter years. We had so many enjoyable days talking about family memories. She was a joy! Belated sincere condolences to all her family. Much love, Louella Roberts Chrisman. Granddaughter of Mable Beasley Holland, sister of Ida Beasley Brown.
