Gloria J. Stovall

Gloria J. Stovall was born September 7, 1939 to John and Rhoda Mae Flowers of Kansas City, MO and went home to be with the Lord on February 7, 2023. 

Gloria attended Attucks Elementary School and  graduated from Lincoln High School in 1957. She continued her education at Metropolitan Community College for two additional years. Gloria met Delfred Stovall and married in 1959 to that union were three children, Shon Stovall, Dell Stovall and Stacie Stovall. 

Gloria accepted Christ at an early age, and became a faithful and dedicated member of Centennial United Methodist Church serving on many committees and boards. She loved the Lord.

Gloria worked at Western Electric for many years. She later went on to work at St. Peter’s Catholic School as a Health Care Nurse for 6 years. Gloria ran a successful daycare for 30 plus years, she had an incredible passion for children and early childhood development and was very successful. She loved teaching her little kids and watching their growth.  

She was known by her family and friends as someone who always put others first, always giving of herself with money, time and kindness. She always had a sense of humor through good times and bad, filling the room with laughter wherever she went. Gloria always came to the aid of anyone in need, going above and beyond giving support to all. 

It was her mission to help make an impact on the lives of others. Her favorite saying was “I love you and I am proud of you”. We love you mom and are so proud of you! She was a wonderful mother, sister, aunt, friend, mentor and everything in between, inspiring everyone she met. Everyone loved her very much. She will be missed by everyone that knew her from her friends to all of her family.

She was preceded in death by: husband, Delfred Stovall, Sr.; daughter, Shon Stovall; parents, John and Rhoda M. Flowers; and brother-in-law, Delbert Stovall. 

She leaves to cherish her memory: son, Dell (Denise) Stovall; daughter, Stacie Stovall; brother, John (Norma) Flowers; brother-in-law, Byron Stovall; grandson, Ian (Grace) Williams; nieces Judy Stovall, Sharon Stovall, Leslie (Wess) Flowers, Nichole Flowers; and a host of other relatives and friends.
