Sharon Sigler

Sharon (Wooten) Sigler, 79, of Columbia, passed away from natural causes on
January 29, 2023, at The Villa at Blue Ridge. Sharon was born in November, 1943, to
Ruby (Overton) Turner and Ray Wooten in Cassville, Missouri.

Growing up, her life centered around animals, and Sharon’s favorite thing in the world
was horses. She helped her grandfather train their animals, and she rode in the
mounted drill team, did some barrel racing, and spent as much time with her horses as
she could.

But Sharon was not a one-note girl! She graduated from Exeter High School in 1961,
and she played snare drum for her high school band. She played volleyball for the
school, and she loved to sing. She was active in the school choir and in several of the
mixed singing groups.

Sharon moved to St. Louis after graduation and got her cosmetologist’s license, and
she owned a beauty shop for a while. She married Daniel Sigler in May, 1965, and they
had a daughter.

In the early ‘70s, Sharon took her first job at a restaurant, and that set her course for the
rest of her life. Cooking became a keen interest, whether it was commercially or for her
family and friends. She loved to prepare a (big!) meal, and absolutely expected that
everybody would wobble home stuffed. At some point, she discovered the joy of baking
cheesecakes, and that became her calling card.

She loved to play card games and board games, and nothing delighted her more than to
beat the pants off her friends in canasta or backgammon. She was even surprisingly
good at video games.

Sharon is survived by her daughter Melody (Sigler) Galen and Jeffrey Galen, of
Columbia, and grandson Duncan Galen, also of Columbia. She was preceded in death
by her husband, her parents, and her step-father.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, February 26, 2023, at the Oakland
Park Kingdom Hall, 301 Smiley Lane, Columbia, MO 65202. Memorial donations may
be made to the animal shelter of your choice.

Bonnie met you through online gaming, and backgammon was the favorite competition throughout your years of friendship. I got to “tag along”, and loved every visit filled with food, Irish coffee, friendship, laughter, and fierce competition in board games, cards, dice games, etc.(even though I rarely won). With up to eight dogs in the house between us, the reverie was nonstop!
I’ll forever remember your love, attention, and dedication to family, friends, and Jehovah.
I’m honored to have shared in your life’s journey, and thoughts of you will continue to inspire me as I continue my journey on this earth.
I look forward to seeing you in the next life.
    Love always, Patrice
