There will be a celebration of her life at 6pm on May 25, 2023, at Fellowship Church-Greenwood Campus. Visitation will begin at 5pm at 1601 W Main St, Greenwood, MO 64034.
She was born to Leonard and Margaret Barnett on February 23, 1945, in Appleton City, Missouri. She graduated from Mount Zion Bible School in 1963 and earned her associates degree in 1965. She went on to become a registered nurse and remained licensed for over 50 years.
Margaret loved sewing. She made all of her own clothes and was a master at crochet. Every Christmas, Margaret would crochet an ornament for everyone she met. She also enjoyed making quilts. Her other hobbies included Gardening and baking.
She was an avid reader. She would read at least 2 books every week. Margaret also loved to study scripture and pray for the people that she loved. She would journal her prayers and she left behind notebooks full of them.
Margaret was actively involved in her church, Fellowship of Greenwood, and rarely missed a Sunday. When it became too difficult to attend in person, she started watching online. For many years, Margaret served in the nursery. Holding the babies was her favorite. Margaret loved her church community.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, siblings-Emmagene Thomas, and Elizabeth Hedburg and is survived by her siblings-Martin Barnett, Clarence Barnett and Ruby Abadir, her daughter Victoria Smith and 3 grandsons Victor, David and Joshua Wagner
Margaret will be missed. She was loved by all as she loved us all. Days when her eyesight and hearing diminished she still came to church sitting on the front row. She would always stop and talk to you and appreciated when you would identify yourself so she’d know who she was talking to. Rest well my friend in Jesus loving arms.
Margaret served so well at church! She loved Fellowship Church and loved on the babies in the nursery at church! She was a prayer warrior. Miss Margaret is truly missed!
We knew Ms. Margaret through church. She loved our babies well during their time in the nursery. I also remember her handing out her crocheted snowflake ornaments at Christmas time. It was a blessing to know her and she will surely be missed.
Margaret was such a blessing to our church and our family. She was always smiling, and I have many of her crocheted Christmas ornaments which I cherish because I know they were made out of love. She will be missed yet I know she is rejoicing in the presence of her Lord!
Margaret sounds like an amazing woman of God. Would liked to have known her.
Margaret was such a faithful servant of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She did not let physical difficulties impede her service or her faithfulness to be with the body of Christ. We will miss her and her gracious spirit!
“Miss Margaret” will be missed by so many at church. Her spot all the way down front on the right at the end of the first pew, sitting with the youth, will never look the same. Her sweet, gentle spirit was infectuous.
Margaret was a delight and always had a joyful smile to greet me with on Sunday mornings. We will continue to hang the crocheted ornaments she made for us in the years ahead and remember her sweet spirit. Praying for comfort over her family during this difficult time.
Margaret was loved by all who knew her. Three of her crocheted snowflakes grace our tree every year.
I grew to love Margaret several years ago. She needed transportation to a dentist in Independence. We traveled that road several times. I have one of her dolls and a doily to treasure. So sorry to hear of her passing.
We, at Mr. LongArm, were blessed to have her as a neighbor. Every Christmas, she surprised each of us with a beautifully crocheted Christmas ornament! She was always so thoughtful. She will be missed. Prayers for her family.
