Virginia A. Bost, 99 of Raytown, MO passed away May 16, 2023.
A graveside service for Virginia will be held Monday May 22, 2023, at 12:00 PM, at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd. Kansas City, MO 64138.
Virginia was born February 24, 1924, to Frank and Magdalena (Renner) Schaefer in Kansas City, Missouri. Virginia first married Francis Daniel Anderson, with whom she had two children: Michael, and Mary Sue.
Becoming a single mother in the 1950’s, Virginia chose to be strong, and devoted her life to giving her children the best upbringing possible. With the help of her sister Amelia, her children knew only abundance.
She later remarried in 1973 to the much beloved John Bost, gaining 3 wonderful stepchildren. Virginia made an excellent choice in John, who was loved by Virginia’s grandchildren as well as any grandfather could be.
Virginia grew up during the depression with her sister Amelia, and learned many great lessons about frugality, which left a lasting impression on her family. She had a strong will, which got her through many life challenges, and imparted to her family the positive traits of steadfastness, and the mindset of longevity. Virginia was always artistic, sewing clothes and patchwork quilts, painting, drawing with colored pencils, and cooking countless dishes and desserts. She was an avid bird watcher and caretaker of all creatures in her backyard. She always made sure they were fed with birdseed and natural breadcrumbs. She loved her dogs, and never lived without one or two in her house. She was adventurous, and loved to travel, spending many vacations with her family, and visiting all of the lower 48 states with her husband John. Even up to the final week of her life, she was planning for another road-trip. As she aged gracefully into her 90’s, all were impressed with how she would suddenly grow younger again. If you talked with her on the phone, you would have thought she was just 50. Virginia truly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. All her grandkids reminisce about going on vacations to the lake with John and Virginia or visiting their house in Raytown to sleepover. She was a crowd favorite at the legendary family parties.
In short, Virginia was devoted to her whole family, and she always showed-up for them.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband John Bost, her parents Frank and Magdalena Schaefer, and her sister Amelia Mosbauer (Owen). Survivors of Virginia include her son Michael F. Anderson (Marty), daughter Mary Sue Anderson, stepchildren Johnny (Kathy), Janet (Griff), and Joe Bost (Angie), many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her Red Retriever, “Indie”.
