He was a proud graduate of Mexico High School in Mexico, Missouri where he played football and would continue playing football at the University of Missouri. During college he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served in Vietnam, Okinawa, and Japan. After returning home he completed his degree at the University of Missouri, he married his high school sweetheart Karen (Shoemaker) Swatek and had a son and two daughters. He was a big supporter of all things Mizzou, weekends at the lake, John Deere, and the Marine Corps. Most importantly, he was a proud dad and granddad. His big heart, funny stories, and sense of humor will forever be missed. His canine companions were dear to him. Molly girl will stay behind with Karen, but we know Dozer is on a long walk with him now.

I’ve never met Mr. Swatek but I’ve met his daughter, Megan. I believe ones children’s speaks volumes for the quality of the parents. If Megan is anything like her father, and I’m sure she is, what a beautiful person he must have been. We are praying for the family and for comfort for the loss you must feel.
So sorry to hear of Johns passing. My deepest sympathy to Karen and the family and prayers for comfort and peace . My thoughts are with you.
I think I’ll miss his bear hugs the most??The hearty laugh, the twinkle in his eye. There was a lot to love about John. Our hearts go out to the Swatek Family. ??
John hired me as a mechanic at his John Deere store in Colorado many years ago. I was so proud to work for him and Karen. They treated all us employees like family, and were so concerned for everyone’s welfare.
I’m so sad to hear of John’s passing, and pray Karen and all his family are safe and able to support each other in their time of sadness.
Godspeed, John Swatek. And thank you for your service 🙏🇺🇸!
