Kenneth Wayne Johnson of Sarcoxie, Missouri passed away July 1st, 2023 in Springfield, Missouri.
Kenneth was born December 30, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri. He grew up in Raytown, Missouri and graduated from Raytown High School. He went to Central Missouri State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in History. After college he joined the U.S. Army from which he is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was awarded many medals including two Purple Hearts and the Silver Star. He married Janice Loulos in June 1971. They had three sons, Brian, Patrick and Derek. He worked for Kodak, Butler Transport and then the Internal Revenue Service from where he retired in 2011.
To the grandkids, Kenneth was “PaKen”. He would have the kids over to play monopoly and watch movies. The grandkids always asked for sausage, fried eggs and toast. They loved staying over at PaKens. Kenneth was also an avid photographer, traveller, trivia and history buff and family lover.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents Jimmie and LaVada (Brunk) Johnson; granddaughter Kristen.
Kenneth is survived by his sons Brian (Kimberly), Patrick (Sandra), Derek; grandchildren Tyler, Tanner, Tucker, Holly, Amber (Judson) Hulme, Megan, Zachary, Ashley, Olivia and Saige; one great grandson Mathias Hulme; sister Carolyn (Bud) Beckwith, along with many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Heartland Funeral Home on Monday, July 10th, at 11:00 with visitation beginning at 10:00 prior to the service. Burial will be at Brooking Cemetery.
We are terribly sorry for your loss and hope that your shared memories will provide comfort during this challenging time. Mr. Johnson’s honorable and decorated legacy as a veteran is truly appreciated and revered. May serenity and peace gradually supplant your pain.
