Donald Everett Brown

Donald Everett Brown, 88 of Overland Park, KS passed away on August 27, 2023 at home. A memorial service will be held October 1, 2023 at 5:30 pm at Homers Coffee House in Overland Park, KS.

Donald was born on February 27, 1935, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Homer C. Brown and Opal Brown (Day). He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, graduated from Southeast High School, and then attended the University of Kansas, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business in 1958. In the years following, he worked in various positions in business in Kansas and South Dakota, many of which allowed him to travel around the country. Don was also a member of the naval reserves. He was also a lifetime member of Mensa. After retiring, Donald pursued ballroom dancing and performed at a professional level competing all over the country as well as a few international competitions. He was passionate about dancing until he could not dance anymore. Donald was also passionate about painting and drawing and displayed his creations around his home and apartment complex. He loved ice cream and chocolate shakes and never passed up a chance to enjoy them. Don loved learning and never stopped. In the last several years, Don had learned some Russian and Chinese from his international neighbors and loved trying to converse with them in their national language. Don‘s faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life. The last several years he attended church in a small church Bible study at Homer’s Coffee House in Overland Park, KS.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Dortha J. Tully (Brown), his wife Juanita L. Brown (Larson) of 30 years who passed in 2005; his first wife Dorothy June Brown, and his last wife Daisy Brown. He is survived by his three children, Patrick Brown (Nubia) of Indianapolis, IN; Christopher Brown (Tammy) of Cleveland, TX; and Rebecca Brown of The Woodlands, TX. He is also survived by his five grandchildren Erin Brown, Genesis Brown-Bravo, Tia Brown-Bravo, Caitlin Brown-Bravo, and Aiden Brown as well as three great grandchildren, Isaac Wilson, Abigail Wilson, Willow Brown-Bravo, two nieces and their families as well as several friends from Homer’s church who were like family to him.

In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations be made to Heartland International Ministries (HIM), (https://heartforhim.org) which was Don’s favorite charity that he supported.
