I’m fortunate to have been a coworker of Randy’s. His kindness and quick wit were unmatched, and he listened, paid attention to, and cared about each person he met. He watched out for everyone and took interest in their passions. He knew I loved dance, and would take the time to ask and talk about it with me. His wise insight and excellent advice were such a gift. Though I moved out of state, we would stay in touch- and he always made time to talk when I’d stop back and visit. He was there for me in some very hard times, and I’m forever grateful for that. To his family- I’m deeply sorry for your loss. What an incredible legacy he leaves. Know that he loved you all dearly- he talked about you often and was so proud to call you his. May you forever feel and carry his love with you- your lives continue his powerful legacy and story. Praying for you all, I’m so sorry.

Randy was a one of a kind man who could make anyone smile. Randy was the best at lifting people up when they were having a bad day. Randy’s greatest gift was how he could relate to anybody he came in contact with. This made him a friend to all. I am very glad of the time we shared working for Hy-Vee. Randy always had my best interest at heart and that is something I’m still thankful for today. He loved his children and grandchildren and always had stories to share. My condolences to his family.

Hyvee was my first job after moving from home. Randy was always there for me and everyone who worked with him. I sadly put off coming to visit and now regret that. I know he loved his family a lot and my prayers are with them.

Randy was an amazing coworker. He was often one of the first people I would talk to before I started my work day. He was an all around hard worker and good friend. He will be missed.

I started working with Randy in 2017. He made me feel welcome right off the bat. He knew I was a huge KSU fan, so we would talk about that all the time. Any big win I could expect a text from him congratulating me. Of course he had to give me a hard time when Mizzou beat us this season. But I was secretly happy for him ?

He cared deeply for his family and often talked about his granddaughter’s softball games. He would have the play by play on his phone at work if he couldn’t make it to a game. I know he was very proud.

Randy’s presence in the kitchen at work will be truly missed. I’m so glad to have had him in my life. My deepest condolences to the family.

This man was a legend to me in the culinary category. Not only was he an amazing cook, he was an amazing person! He always went out of his way to help out, and he was a hard worker. I truly loved this man, as a role model for being kind to others, and making a mean breakfast plate. God bless you! And legends never die!

I was fortunate enough to know Randy through Hy-Vee. He was an amazing person. He always had knowledge or banter to share. I loved speaking with him everyday and learned a bunch from him. I was able to stop by the store and see him when I was in KC last and he was ever his ‘Randy’ self. There was no one like him! I think of him often! He taught me how to cut and onion(so I remember him every time). He taught so many people and influenced so many lives. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I was part of a regular group who gathered for breakfast most Wednesdays and every Friday at Hy Vee for years and Randy was a part of “our” crew…always ready with a kind word, a cheery greeting or a helping hand to take care of everything we might need. His work ethic and dedication were strong. We will miss him. He will be remembered fondly. He was the essence of “a good man”. May he rest in eternal peace.

I had the pleasure of working with Randy at Hy-vee. I always felt a special kindred with Randy: growing up on the same block, decades apart. We talked about how the world was changing, and where we thought it would go. Randy was a teacher, mentor, life coach, chef, and friend. He was a man who truly understood the meaning of service: caring for strangers without prejudice. He will be sorely missed. Rest well, friend.

God bless your family, during this time. Appreciate the community your family provided as we have lived up and down the street from each other over the years. All the drive by and waves, and when we all left the house at least my mom still had you’ll family still in the neighborhood although the time has changed the neighborhood it always feels like home and was always good to see familiar faces.
