Larry Dean Gilliland

Larry Dean Gilliland, 77, of Raytown, MO passed away November 23, 2023 at home. Memorial services will be held at 7:00pm on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at The Gathering Baptist Church, 4505 Noland Rd. Independence, MO 64055. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 6:00pm.

Larry was a lifetime resident of Raytown area. Graduated from Raytown South High in 1964 leading the basketball team in scoring. Larry was a gifted singer and a member of gospel quartet who recorded an album and performed at various churches in Kansas City. He could always be found watching the latest sports events on TV cheering for his favorite teams. He worked at Sears for 30 years and completed his career working as a member of the Raytown School District in a lead role. He was a kind and generous soul always looking for ways to help neighbors and family. He was raised Baptist and attended local churches over the years.

He was preceded in death by: father, Olin Henry Gilliland; mother, Juanita Isabell ne Loy Gilliland; and older brother, Gerald Gilliland.

Survivors include: lifetime love, Peggy Sue ne McDonald Gilliland of 48 years; and various nieces and nephews.
