Robert Gary Forbes

Robert Gary Forbes, 62, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away on January 20, 2024. Funeral services will be held from 2:00-4:00PM on Saturday, January 27th at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society.

Rob was born on September 8, 1962 to Addie Forbes and Bud Williams in Sacramento, CA.
Rob played baseball for the William Chrisman Bears as a pitcher and also tried out for the Kansas City Royals. He was given cleats by Paul Splittorff. Rob graduated from high school in 1979. Rob enjoyed spending time with his brother and watching his favorite sport Jai alai.

Rob moved to Florida after graduating high school where he lived for a short period of time. He was married to Tina briefly before moving back to Independence, Missouri.

Rob met his wife Carrie and her two children, Billy and Jeff. They moved to Lee’s Summit, Missouri where they had a child together, Nick. Rob enjoyed vacations and traveling to places like Puerto Vallarta. Rob was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fans and had season tickets for over 12 years. Rob spent many years playing golf in an endless pursuit of perfection. He loved to go on annual trout fishing trips to Lake Taneycomo in Branson, Missouri with his friends and family. He was a great storyteller and knew how to be the life of the party. Rob was known as a people-person which carried over into his work life as he was a salesman for a majority of his career. Rob was quick to make friends and give nicknames to everybody. He always knew how to light up a room and make everyone laugh.

Rob was preceded in death by Addie Forbes, and Ken Williams.

Rob is survived by Debra Sinclair (Keith), Barbara Vohland (sister), Chad Forbes (brother), Nick Forbes (son), Jefferey McDonald (son), Billy McDonald (son), James McDonald (grandson), Samantha McDonald (granddaughter), and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care.

    So sorry to hear of the loss of Rob. He was such a nice, gracious person. He will be missed.
