Scott Theodore Buehrle

Scott Theodore Buehrle, a resident of Columbia, Missouri, passed away on June 18, 2024, at the age of 42. He was born on June 23, 1981, in Bridgeton, Missouri, to Timothy and Loretta Buehrle.

Scott graduated from Fort Zumwalt North High School in O’Fallon, MO, in 1999, and earned his degree in English Literature from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. He was known among his friends for his deep love of reading, music, films, and storytelling.

A passionate and talented chef, Scott combined his love of history and science with food, delighting his friends and family with culinary creations. His affection for cats was evident in his dedication to rescuing and caring for them as cherished companions, often focusing on those most likely to be overlooked. Scott was engrossed in literature and storytelling games, exploring diverse perspectives and learning about different cultures through extensive reading. His friends credited him with an excellent taste in music, which became a core part of their shared memories.

Scott is survived by his father, Timothy Buehrle of Reeds Spring, MO; sister, Kathryn (Matthew) Roberts of Clark, MO; grandmother, Judy Thornburg of Moberly, MO; aunts Diane Ragsdale, Linda (Tom) Ortman, all of Moberly; aunts Eileen Buehrle, Kathy (Robert) Egan, Elizabeth (Michael) Congemi, all of St. Louis, MO; beloved cousins, relatives, and friends who will deeply miss him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Loretta Buehrle of Clark, MO; grandfather Ted Thornburg of Moberly, MO; and grandparents Edward and Eleanor Buehrle of St. Ann, MO.

Scott’s kindness, loyalty, and sharp sense of humor will be treasured and remembered always. His decision to be an organ donor reflects his enduring commitment to helping others, even in his passing.

A celebration of Scott’s life will be held in Clark, MO, on Saturday, July 13th, 2024. Details will be provided directly to family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri or Boone County Animal Care in Scott’s memory.

    Scott was a hilarious personality, and my years at the end of High School and beyond with him will not be forgotten.
