Paul Frederick Orrick, 78, of Sugar Creek, MO, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2016.

Memorial Service with Catholic Mass will be at Noon on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church, Independence, MO.

Paul was born in Kansas City, MO to John A. and Elizabeth M. Orrick on October 20, 1937.  He married the love his life, Linda on March 18, 1972 in Kansas City, MO. Paul was a “jack of all trades” working many different jobs over the years which included the City of Leawood, the City of Prairie Village, Weber Carpet, and Molle Chevrolet, to name a few.  Paul became disabled in 1994 and kept himself busy doing odd jobs for friends and family and spending lots of his time maintaining his beautiful lawn. Paul was known for his knack for “manicuring” his lawn and working on cars. He was also known for his friendly nature, every day he would stand in his front yard with is cup of coffee waving to everyone as they drove past his home on Sterling Avenue in Sugar Creek.  Paul loved to make people smile and “didn’t know a stranger”.  He was one-of-a-kind and had a big heart.  He loved his family very much. He is going to be deeply missed by all his friends and family.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Elizabeth M. Orrick. His mother-in-law, Mary P. VanDusen. He is also preceded in death by three brothers, Vincent (infant), John and James Orrick, two sisters Mary Clemmer and Elizabeth Ann Benigno. Two sons, Paul Frederick, Jr. (infant), and John Darin (infant).

Paul is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Orrick (VanDusen), his children Paula A. Walton (Jack) of Broken Arrow, OK, Paul J. Orrick (Holly) of Blue Springs, MO, and Andrea L. Guzman (Matt) of Independence, MO.  Grandchildren, Alexander Jacob Orrick, Mackenzie Ryann Orrick, and Taylor Marie Guzman. He is also survived by his sisters Barbara Merritt, Lincolnshire, IL, Janet Covan (Gary), Olathe, KS, Cathy Purinton, Kansas City, KS, and Nancy Hurst (Gary), Kansas City, KS. His brothers Michael Orrick, Overland Park, KS, Patrick Orrick (Jan), Bella Vista, AR, as well as many nieces and nephews
