Lovely Betty.
Rodger Clair Tracy says
Betty and Herb Sass are outstanding members of the Greatest Generation! My parents, Clair and Lila Tracy, knew and loved Betty and Herb for 72 years – they were both married in 1944 I believe. They first met when Herb and Clair formed their B-17 crew in Alexandria, LA – just before flying a B-17 to England over the Atlantic. Herb was the flight engineer/top turret gunner who flew up with the pilots (Clair was the co-pilot) during their 35 combat missions over Germany. Herb and Clair talked with one another almost every year, visited each other, and went to B-17 crew reunions over the years. Clair(96) and Lila(91) both passed away in 2016 after 72 years of marriage. Tracey Monk, Betty and Herb’s daughter, was named after my dad, according to Herb, because of Herb’s admiration for Clair and their shared very intense WWII combat experiences. I pray that Clair and Lila have already welcomed Betty in heaven – may they celebrate the Lord together for eternity! I pray God’s peace and grace upon you Herb as you miss Betty! I believe that Herb may be the last remaining living member of their 10 member B-17 crew! Herb you and your crew are our true and faithful hero’s! We love you all!
Rosalie Tracy says
My sincere sympathy in your loss. As my brother stated above, our parents were like extended family, the war made relationships like theirs very precious for life. Dad had such a love and respect for the crew and would always update me on you and your families. I met your parents several times and exchanged cards, letters, photos and occasional phone calls. It is difficult losing our parents and through dementia it is even more challenging. Please know that healing thoughts are with you all.
Our loved ones live on in our hearts, their gifts of love and guidance continue to lead our life’s path back to each other one day.
Deepest regards to you all.
Rosalie Tracy

We all die. The goal isn’t to live forever, the goal is to create something that will. And Betty did. She was a sweet and caring person. She will be missed.

Dear grandma, you were in my thoughts today and I miss you so much. A beautiful necklace you made me hangs on my wall w/the sun reflecting upon it, and made me smile. It is one of the few things you made me that I cherish. I love you and hope you are happy and having a great time in heaven. Love you everyday, Angi ?

Hi grandma, I was baking blueberry and banana bread today, and thought of you. I’m sorry you never got to try my homemade breads. The sun is beaming through the kitchen, you can smell the warm sweet breads. I had my cup of coffee and breads (I cheated and had both slices with melted butter) and wished you a beautiful day in heaven. A toast to you and lots of hugs and kisses. I miss you Soo much. Love you forever, Angi
