Derrick “Rick” Riley Ebeirus

Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Derrick “Rick” Riley Ebeirus, passed away on March 4th, 2022. After lengthy illnesses and Stage 4 High Grade Metastatic Pulmonary Sarcomatoid Carcinoma, he passed peacefully with his loving family by his side at the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center in Columbia.

Born January 9th, 1961 to “Lafe” Ebeirus and Helen (Hodges) Ebeirus, in Selma, California. “Rick” the oldest of six children.

June 1983, “Rick” met the Love of his Life, Virginia “Gina” (Thomas) Ebeirus, sharing 39 amazing years, and five children. Derrick “Ricky” JR. Erica, Tina, Zachary and Jennifer.

Employment; San Francisco – San Jose Railroads, Unocal 76, Lemoore, California, Bob Jacobs (owner) cherishing lifelong friendship, enjoyed Southern and Central coastlines breathtaking beaches. Tracker Marine, G-3 Boats, and Voyager Boats, Research and Development. Chief Engineer on Long Liner Fishing/Vessels Norcoaster and Melissa Lynn in Homer, Alaska fishing in the Bering Sea.

“Rick” devoted husband, goofy grandpa, dedicated employee, lifelong friend to those he chose to have in his life. Loved oceans, lakes, rivers, his pond stocked, teaching grandkids to fish. Riding his lawn mower, grandkids in his lap, then watched them take over. Family visits, celebrating holidays, motorcycles, fast cars, classic rock, exotic animals, Buddy, his black bear and Tito his African Serval, Stempy, 17 year old rare lynx point Siamese, Nascar, Pawn Stars, Gold Rush and Old Westerns.

“Rick” was preceded in death by both his parents and his sister Shella Denise Ebeirus. He is survived by his wife, “Gina” (Thomas) Ebeirus, his son Derrick “Ricky” Jr. and Tim, Erica Appleberry, Tina Salzman, Zachary and his wife Angel, Jennifer Reedy and her husband Michael. Sisters, Alisa Rogers and her husband Matt, Keri Malone and her fiancée Shane and brother, Jason. Grandchildren, David, Mariah, Cynthia, Douglas, Aiden, Justin, Michael Jr. Zachary Jr. Kali and Summer Gene. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, other extended family and countless friends.

“Rick” will be missed by all whose lives had been touched by him.

A Celebration of Life, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 2nd at United Methodist Church, 1000 North Highway 133, Richland, MO 65556 (573) 765-3832).Reception to follow, please bring a dish, drink or dessert for everyone to share.
