Terry Patrick Smith, 42, of Independence died Sunday, September 18, 2005 at his home. A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Independence. Visitation will precede the Mass at 9 a.m. at the church. Terry Smith was born in Kansas City and lived most of his life in Independence. He was a member of Insulators Local 27 and was a job site foreman for All-Temp Inc. He previously served as a union executive board member and trustee. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Jan Smith of the home; sons Zachary Smith and Kory Schuerman of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Kirbi and Chris Hampton of Independence; his mother, Helen Smith of Independence; sisters Michelle Smith of Lee’s Summit and Kathleen Smith of Independence; and a grandson, Jacob Hampton. He was also blessed with many good friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Terry W. Smith. The family suggests contributions to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

I remember Terry as my best friend when we were kids on Mohawk street. We lost track so I thought I’d look him up. So sorry to hear about his death. I wish his family the best.
