Annie Lee Whigham, 71, Kansas City, Missouri passed away June 21, 2017 at Research Medical Center. A memorial gathering will be held 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society. Annie was born January 23, 1946 In Andalucia, Alabama. She was born to Algier and Ethel Whigham. Annie moved to Buffalo, New York and then to Niagara Falls, New York. After some time, she settled in Kansas City, Missouri where she enjoyed working in the kitchen at Western Missouri.
She loved her job but decided to retire so that she could spend her golden years traveling. Annie want to Mississippi, Florida and Las Vegas. She dipped her feet in the Atlantic Ocean, as she refused to go into the water any further.
Annie loved to crochet quilts for her family, especially all new born babies in the family. She also loved to cook, which was her true passion. Since everyone was family, she never met a stranger. Annie always opened her heart and home to those in need, without question. She will be missed.
Survivors include; sons, daughters and in law’s, Algier & Minnie Whigham, Robert & Vicki Bennett, Dorsell & Claude Arrington, William Arrington, Nicole & Lonnie Ketcher; brother, Edward Whigham; sister in law, Meadrica Suber; eleven grandchildren; Darnell, William, Kevin, Tia, Alicia, Constance, Ashley, Sierra, Sabrina, Lashoneka and Lyria. She also had thirteen great grandchildren.
Annie is survived by several adopted children including; Daisy Abrusko and James Cunningham along with their spouses and children. She also leaves behind; goddaughter, Tamika Sharee, nieces, nephews and cousins.
