Arthur Leagree Rigdon, 65, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away September 17, 2008 at Villa St. Frances Nursing Home under the loving care of Crossroads Hospice. 

Born August 28, 1943 in Jacksonville, Florida, the son of Norman C. Rigdon and Susan D. (Taylor) Rigdon.  In 1961, at age 18, Art enlisted in the US Air Force, serving for four years.  He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad as a conductor after 37 years.

Art was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Earl.  Survivors include his wife, Margie; son, John; two daughters, Kendallyn Rigdon and Janell Dobbins; two granddaughters and one grandson, all of Bowling Green, Virginia; three step-daughters; five step-grandchildren and five step great grandchildren; five brothers, Norman, Maurice, Sonny, Charlie, and Kenneth, all of Jacksonville, Florida; and one sister, Martha Rivenbark of Spring Hill, Florida.  He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews.  All of Art’s friends were "Best Friends".

A memorial service will be held in Art’s memory on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Community Bible Church, 1304 N. Parker, Olathe, KS 66061.  A military service will also be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS on Tueaday the 30th at 2:30 PM.
