Barbara Ann Lafond, 81, Olathe, Kansas, passed away 6/24/2015 at her residence. A graveside blessing will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas.
Mrs. Lafond was born 3/9/1934 in Fall River, Massachusetts. The Lafond’s were long time residents of Pekin, Illinois before moving to the Kansas City area 9 years ago. Mrs. Lafond graduated from Sacred Heart Academy High School and graduated from St. Anne’s School of Nursing in Fall River Massachusetts where she received her bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Mrs. Lafond practiced as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts, North Carolina and Michigan.
Mrs. Lafond was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years (married 2/4/1956), Norman Lafond and her parents Marie Anne Estrella and George M Estrella. Survivors include her four children: Norman Lafond, Nancy Knapp, Robert Lafond, and Susan Milroy; 7 grandchildren: Breanna Gibson, John Milroy, Ronald Lafond, Katrina Lafond, Jackie Knapp, Nicole Knapp, and Rachel Knapp; and 4 great grandchildren. Mrs. Lafond is also survived by her 2 brothers: George Estrella and Leo Estrella, and her only sister Nancy Estrella as well as several nieces and nephews from the Estrella and Lafond sides of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity in lieu of flowers.

So sorry to hear of your mom’s passing this summer. I remember her as someone that made me feel like family. I know how much she will be missed by all. My mom passed away in January, but Dad is still doing well and just returned from a trip to Italy this fall. Hope all is well with you and your family. Hope you had a Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year! I have been in north Phoenix the past 15 years and enjoying every minute! Would love to hear from you if you want. Take care of yourself!!
