Betty Jean Collins

Betty Jean Taylor Collins of Grandview, Missouri died peacefully at home, May 24, 2020. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years Robert J. Collins, two sisters Alice Collins and Olivette Stock, one brother Barksdale Taylor, two daughters, Rhonda Langley and Sheila Collins, seven grandkids and almost seven great grandkids.

Betty Jean or “GaGa” was born September 6, 1932 to Maut and Josie Taylor in Cleveland Mississippi. She attended God’s Bible School and college in Cincinnati, Ohio and Arkansas State College (now University) in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was a second grade teacher at Valley View Elementary in Jonesboro. In 1953 she met Robert “Bob” Collins on a blind date. They were married June 16, 1957.

She loved to cook and had quite a collection of cookbooks. She also loved collecting dolls and fixing up old ones. One of her favorite pastimes was playing the organ, mostly old hymns and Christmas carols.

She adored her grandkids and enjoyed the time she spent with them playing cards and board games.

Her faith in the Lord was such a part of her. She always had a Bible verse ready for any occasion. Prayer and reading the Bible were a daily part of her life.

Her loving family will mourn her passing on earth but take comfort in knowing she is rejoicing in Heaven with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
