Betty passed away on Wednesday, July 7, at Lakeview Village Care Center in Lenexa, Kan. Betty was the daughter of Charles Guy Huggins and Beulah Margaret Huggins, born in Kansas City, Mo., and was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from East High School in Kansas City in 1941. She married Andrew J.T. Smith in 1945. She leaves her son Leeland, and daughter Gaynelle Booth; two grandsons; two granddaughters and two great granddaughters. Also surviving are her brother Charles Guy Huggins, Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and sister Beulah Margaret Douglas, Arlington, Texas. Betty was a longtime member of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Mission and a charter member of St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church in Overland Park. Betty’s memorial service will be at St. Thomas the Apostle on Saturday, July 17, at 10 a.m. Betty requested no flowers.
