Beulah Meade

Beulah Ruth (Gromer) Meade, 98, passed away July 1st at Shangri-la Care Center in Blue Springs. Born Sept. 28, 1909, in Pattonsburg, MO, she was the daughter of Charles (Mud) and Martha Pearl Blankenship. She married Dr. Ray Gromer, a dentist, in 1934. He died in 1950. In 1955, she married Vern Meade, who died in 1984. Mrs. Meade grew up in Pattonsburg, graduated from Pattonsburg High School, and attended nurses’ training at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Kansas City. She resided in St. Joseph from 1947 to 1959, and later resided in Hermitage, MO, where her husband was the first manager at Pomme de Terre Reservoir. She lived in Bolivar, MO, until 2005. Mrs. Meade was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one brother, Hallie Harrell, two sisters, Faye Harrell and Opal Williams. She is survived by a son, James Gromer (Barbara), Overland Park, KS; daughter, Jill Ladas (John), Blue Springs, MO; five grandchildren: Kathy Gromer (Ro Sobalvarro), St. Paul, MN; Michael Gromer (Alison), Overland Park, KS; Tracy Gromer, Phoenix, AZ; Jeffrey Stith (Tammy), Pleasant Hill, MO and Marc Stith (Jennifer), Castle Rock, CO; six great-grandchildren: Mary Beth, Matthew, Luke, and Sarah Gromer, Jamie Sobalvarro, and Taylor Stith. She is also survived by a cousin, Paul Cummings, Jr. (Daphna), Pattonsburg. The family will receive visitors 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown. Graveside services and burial at Pattonsburg Memorial Gardens on Sunday. The family suggests memorial donations to Kansas City Hospice.

    I am so sorry to learn of your mother’s passing. I remember her as a beautiful lady, inside and out, who was always very gracious to me.
