Beverly J. Wasson-Russell, 90, of Lee’s Summit, MO, passed into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at St. Luke’s East Hospital. Born in Kansas City, MO, on April 8, 1934, Beverly was the beloved only child of Roscoe and Inies Rollins. She remained a lifelong resident of the greater Kansas City area and graduated from Raytown High School in 1952.
Beverly enjoyed a diverse career, starting with part-time work as a demonstrator at grocery stores and events, which later evolved into a successful role as an account representative for personnel staffing agencies. After retirement, she found joy working as an usher at the Ameristar Grand Pavilion.
Beverly was known for her love of entertaining, cooking, and baking for family and friends. She was an avid bridge player up until her illness, and her favorite pastimes included golfing, traveling, shopping, and simply enjoying life. Her deep faith was central to her life, and she was a dedicated member of Connection Point Church of Raytown.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe and Inies Rollins, her husband Bob Russell, ex-husband Barney Wasson, and her son Doug Wasson.
Beverly leaves behind her cherished family: her only daughter Debbie (Dennis) Dierking, her son Dan (Leslie) Wasson, daughter-in-law Audrey Wasson, along with six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren who knew her as their “Gammie”.
Services:
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 26th, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Heartland Cremation and Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, MO 64133. A service will follow immediately, with interment at Floral Hills Cemetery, Raytown, MO.
She was a very warm and friendly person during the short time I knew her. A special mom like her will be missed by the very blessed people that called her mom and Grammie. May God comfort you all in the days ahead.
My very deepest sympathies Debbie & Dennis & to all the Wasson Family. I apologize that I won’t be able to attend Beverly’s service. My thoughts & prayers are with you & your family during this difficult time.
Beverly was the life of the party. One of my favorite events was the Kentucky Derby. She and Bob made those parties so real that you felt like you were at the Derby. Bev will be missed. My deepest sympathies to Debbie and her family.
My very best friend since High school at Raytown. Over 70 years. We enjoyed texting on our later years. We never had a disagreement in all our years. Beverly was always sweet, kind and a joy to call my friend.
Debbie and family, may God give you strength and solace during this time of mourning for Beverly. You have wonderful memories to enjoy. Hopefully those memories will bring joy and laughter. My deepest sympathies go out to all of you.
