Bobbie “Bob” R. Parks, 83, of Holiday Island, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of his children.
Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Bob lived a life defined by service, adventure, laughter, and love. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, first as a firefighter and later as an air traffic controller. During his military service, he was stationed in Puerto Rico and Türkiye, experiences that sparked a lifelong love of travel and exploring the world. After his military service, he continued his career as an air traffic controller, a profession that reflected his calm demeanor, sharp mind, and unwavering dedication.
Bob never met a stranger. He had the biggest heart, the quickest wit, and an incredible ability to make every gathering more fun. Whether he was skiing down a mountain, relaxing on a beach, teeing off on the golf course, or planning his next adventure, he embraced life with enthusiasm and encouraged those around him to do the same. He was a true world traveler who found joy in discovering new places and creating lasting memories with those he loved.
Bob had a special love for Colorado, Arkansas, Algeria, and Türkiye, places that each held a special place in his heart. He also appreciated a good glass of Scotch whisky and enjoyed sharing stories, laughter, and conversation with family and friends. His laughter was contagious, his stories unforgettable, and his love for his family unwavering.
Bob was also a man of conviction. While living in Alaska, he served as a PATCO representative and passionately supported his fellow air traffic controllers. During the PATCO strike, he proudly walked the line, and his family stood beside him in Kansas City in support of the cause. It was one of the many ways he demonstrated his loyalty, courage, and willingness to stand up for what he believed was right.
Above all else, Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He was a constant source of love, wisdom, encouragement, and laughter, and his presence made every holiday, vacation, and family gathering a little brighter.
Bob is lovingly survived by his children, Diane Parks; Bobby Parks and wife Laryssa Chomiak; Laura Parks Davis and husband Steve Davis; and Kelli Fuester and husband Kevin Fuester. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Katherine, Benjamin, Landon, Emma, and Chloë, each of whom brought immeasurable pride and happiness to his life. He is also survived by his sisters, Linda and husband Charlie Johnson , and Teena and husband Rick Pulliam; two nephews, three nieces; his loving partner of 8 years Connie Woolhiser, and many cherished friends who became like family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, June Parks; his father, Robert Parks; his bonus mom, Tina Parks; his mother, Donnie Sneed; and many dear friends who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.
Although our hearts are broken, we are forever grateful for the 83 years we were blessed to share with Bob. His legacy of kindness, humor, compassion, adventure, integrity, and unconditional love will continue to live on through his family and everyone fortunate enough to know him.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date. In honor of Bob, the family encourages everyone to take a trip, spend a day at the beach, play a round of golf, hit the ski slopes, enjoy a glass of Scotch, share a laugh, and cherish time with the people you love. Those are the moments Bob treasured most, and there is no better way to celebrate a life so beautifully lived.
