Bobby Duane Harris “Brother Bones”

Bobby Duane Harris “Brother Bones”, 66. passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 in Kansas City, Missouri after a courageous 3 year battle with cancer.

Bobby was born in Kansas City, Kansas and was a 1967 graduate of Bishop Ward High School.  He was a dedicated Marine and Vietnam combat Veteran and retired from General Motors – Fairfax.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Evon Harris. He leaves to mourn three daughters, Sharlonda Ellington (James), Sherrida Harris-Tolbert (Tony) and Shana Abdullah (Dawud); 11 grandchildren: Skyler, James IV, Michael, Ashley, Lauren, Erin, Jade, Elgin, Miles, Lyric and Ari  and 3 great grandchildren: Johnny, Chloe, James V; Brothers: Calvin, Jerry, Bruce, Anthony, Alvin, Michael, Joshua and Justin; and 2 sisters: Janet Mitchell, and Robin Harris; along with a host of dearly loved brothers and sisters in-laws of the Bunton Family.

He is preceded in death by his parents William M. and Clauzel Harris, and sister, Margaret.

While Bobby will be deeply missed, he has earned his wings to Heaven and deserves to rest. Celebration of life services are pending. Memorial donations may be made to the Disabled Americans Veterans association at www.dav.org. (arr: Heartland Cremation, 816-313-1677)

    I am grateful for the life of Mr. Harris. Thanks to his service and to the service of others in our armed forces, my family and I have been able to lead our lives in freedom and peace.
