Bonnie Morgan

Bonnie Morgan, age 94, of Olathe, Kansas passed away on September 7, 2023. Bonnie was born on March 2, 1929, to Harold and Ethel Swickhamer in Rich Hill, Missouri. After Bonnie graduated from Rich Hill High School, she attended Warrensburg Teachers College where she earned her teaching certification. She taught in a one room schoolhouse for three years.

In 1948 Bonnie met Eddie Morgan at the Butler, Missouri roller skating rink. Bonnie and Eddie married in 1950 and went on to have three children, Debbie, Shelly, and Mike. Family was very important to her. She loved the holidays and was always planning a family get-together. There was no doubt that she loved her children and that grandchildren were a delight to her life. She remained close to her siblings and loved them dearly.

After working for 13 years at Farmers Insurance, Bonnie retired at age 64 and went on to enjoy trips to Branson with church groups, an Alaskan cruise with friends, and a trip to Europe with her father. She filled her life with many hobbies such as vegetable garden, cooking, crochet, and reading. She frequently had projects going for her 8 grandsons. Her passion included working in various ministries at the church. She began attending Antioch Church of the Nazarene in 1956, being active on the missionary committee, teaching at Sunday School and Bible School. She had many lifelong friends from Antioch Church fellowship. Her faith was the most important thing to her. She served her Lord faithfully all of her life.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ethel and Harold Swickhamer, and her husband Eddie Morgan. She is survived by her children, Debbie Ziegler (husband Layne), Shelly Burgat (husband Keith), and Mike Morgan (wife Tammy), and also survived by 8 grandsons, Dusty Ziegler, Nick Ziegler (wife Connie), Mark Burgat, John Burgat (wife Tara), Todd Morgan, Jake Morgan, Clayton Morgan, Tyler Morgan and 3 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her 5 siblings, Marion Swickhamer, Marvin Swickhamer (wife Kay), Merle Swickhamer (wife Carol), Norma Morgan, and Erma Ulrich (husband Jim) as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Grace Community Church of the Nazarene in Spring Hill, Kansas on September 16, 2023. Visitation will be at 10:00am with the service at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse Operations Christmas Box. Envelops for that will be available at the service.

My condolences to Bonnie’s family and close friends. I remember Bonnie from the many family reunions I went to in Rich Hill many years ago. She was a nice lady, even though she had some crazy brothers. Lol
