Bradley Burke Dungca

Bradley Burke Dungca passed away in Kansas City, Kansas on November 12, 2023 at age 63, after a long battle with kidney disease.

Bradley was considered by some as one of Kansas City’s best blues and jazz guitarists in recent memory. If an instrument had strings, he could play it and play it brilliantly. His specialties were the hollow body and electric bass guitars, but he could also play a mean violin, piano and keyboard, mandolin, and banjo. He could be found in local coffee shops, bars, restaurants, and venues under the monikers Artemus Arbustos, Seventh Note, and Duke Slim. He played the music circuit with a variety of bands including Right Clique Blues Band, Big Harry & The Back Alley Blues, Blues Underground, Nouveau Jazz, the Christopher Burnett Quintet, In the Pocket, and Smiley’s Graffiti. He also regularly performed with other fellow instrumentalists, including keyboardist Becky Berry, guitarist Don Spain, percussionist Jeff Collins, and others. His catalog of musical performances is available at https://bit.ly/artemusarbustos.

For over 17 years, Bradley taught hundreds of aspiring musicians at the iconic The Tune Shop in Leavenworth, Kansas. He had a unique method, and was eager to share his knowledge and love of instruments with his students. He was a beloved teacher, musician, and friend there.

Bradley’s other passion was automobiles. Whether fixing up a 1974 Chevrolet C30 or rebuilding the engine of a 1938 Chevrolet Pickup, he had the unique ability to not only understand how something worked, but how it could work better.

He is survived by his wife Victoria Schuldt. Also surviving are his father Joe (Susan) Dungca of Warsaw, MO; sister Elizabeth (Rodney) Kesselring of Lebanon, OH and children; sister Jenn (Chris) Anthony of Kansas City, MO and children; and Eric (Laura) Dungca of Jefferson City, MO. He was preceded in death by a number of faithful canine companions, whose ashes will be laid to rest with his overlooking a scenic lake in a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to The Tune Shop, Attn: Brad Dungca Scholarship Fund, 514 Delaware Street, Leavenworth, KS 66048.
