Brenda Ann Burks

Brenda Ann Burks, 47 of Columbia, Missouri passed away June 11th, 2017 at Boone Hospital Center. She was born July 24th, 1969 in La Mesa, TX to Idella E. (Lindsey) Crews and Roy L. Burks.

She was preceded in death by both parents, one Uncle Robert Lindsey, three bothers Roy L. Lindsey, Willie L. Burks and Billie J. Scott, one sister Imogene M. Burks all of Columbia, Missouri.

Brenda accepted the Lord in her life early on. She worked over the years to provide for her three children, and did the same for her grandchildren. She eventually slowed down which she did and ended up at the City of Columbia Parking and Transportation. She met a lot of interesting people, she would say. Brenda loved writing short stories, playing dominos with her kids and spending time with her baby brother Tommy. She loved knowing her family was happy and healthy.

Brenda leaves to cherish her memory the father of her three children, Darrell W. Scott Sr., their children Darrell W. Scott, Jr., Canvas S. Scott and LaDonya S. Burks, (Micheal Britton) all of Columbia, Missouri.

Brenda also leaves to cherish her memory four brothers James H. Burks, Robert Burks and Tommy Crews all of Columbia, Missouri and Kenny Spears of Orlando, FL. Her two sisters Winnie E. Burks of Orlando, FL and Pia L. Brown of Columbia, Missouri. Her grandchildren Terrell Scott of St. Louis, Missouri, Idelayjha Lewis-Scott, Ladarrionna Samuels-Scott, La’ Siah Samuels-Scott, Elajiauna Mars all of Columbia, Missouri and Demarkus Scott of Joplin, Missouri. Her Uncle James A. Lindsey of Columbia, Missouri, Lula May Lindsey of Orlando, FL and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 18th starting at 4pm. Located at Smithton Park 3350 Waco Road, Columbia, MO. Balloons and signs will be on the corner to catch your attention.

    I very sadden to. here the passing of your sister and my cousin. she was so bright and. full of light. as the bible said she now have hope Of a resurrection notice s at ecclesiastics. chapter 7:1-3. a good name is better than good oil and the day Of death is better than the day of birth betterto go to the house of mourning than to the house of feasting for that is the end of every man. and living. should take. it .to heart.better is distress than laughter, for the sadness of the face makes the heart better.

    I wish I could have had the chance to meet u.. ik u don’t know me but I’m isaac!! First off I wanna just thank u for giving me the love of my life.. the one that stole my heart at first glance!! I knew Donnie was the one when she didn’t even have to ask.. like she knew exactly what I needed n my life!! A true friend n a companion… I experienced what real unconditional love is!!! I gotta give my appreciation to u!!! I promise to b delicate with her heart cuz ik what most dont n I plan to keep it that way!!! Ik we just meeting but trust me.. she n great hands!!!?
