Brenda Kay Adkins

Brenda Kay Adkins was born on April 18, 1953 to the late Cleve and Georgia Farley.

Brenda grieved the loss of her loving husband, Tommy D. Adkins; daughter, Linda K. Buchanan; granddaughter, Georgia (Pooh) Black; 5 brothers, Clinton, Larry, Junior, Thomas Farley and Tony Craft; 2 sisters, Lillian Farley and Diana Rakes; and a very special sister-in-law, Diana Sue Farley.

Brenda passed away on February 13, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion to her family. She was a strong Christian woman whose life reflected her deep trust in the Lord and her unwavering kindness toward others. She was a natural caregiver, always putting the needs of others before her own. Whether through a comforting word, a warm meal, or a listening ear, she served her family and friends with grace and compassion. She was a loving mama, an awesome Mamaw to her cherished grandchildren, and a proud and devoted great-grandma. Her family was her greatest joy, and she treasured every moment spent together. Brenda especially enjoyed camping and riding 4-wheelers with her family. Those outdoor adventures were filled with laughter, stories, and memories that will be held close in the hearts of those who loved her.

Those left to cherish Brenda’s memory: 2 daughters, Deanna (Chris) Shields of whom Brenda resided with in Kansas City, MO and Becky (Bruce) Laws of Maiden, NC; son, Denver “Bud” (Michele) Toppings of Independence, MO; 2 brothers, Dallas Farley of Harts, WV and George Farley of GA; sister, Alice (Larry) Raymer of Huntington, WV; 19 grandchildren; one very special great-grandson, Ayden Joseph Aguirre of Rogersville, TN; father of her children, Harlan Denver Toppings; and special friend, Drexel McCallister.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate team at St. Croix Hospice for the exceptional care and support they provided to Brenda in her final days.
