Brenden Hughes, 27 of Olathe KS passed away Feb 4, 2025 at Olathe Medical Center after battling a lengthy illness with a brief hospitalization. He was surrounded by family and wrapped in love. Brenden was kind, sensitive, caring, thoughtful, and loving. Even in death he was selfless having registered as an organ donor and saving 4 lives while improving countless others through tissue donation.
He was an avid football fan and if you really wanted to see him smile or get animated; just start talking about the Chiefs, the draft, or anything NFL related. He also loved his video games and while they were no longer under the same roof; Brenden and his brothers continued on with weekly gaming nights. He looked forward to the weekly games and all the boys made those nights a priority.
Brenden is survived by his parents Brad and Heather (McCullough) Hughes of Olathe; brothers Jeffrey Hughes of Olathe, Terry Hughes of Shawnee and Dustin Hughes of North Hollywood ; maternal grandparents Jeffrey and Kathleen McCullough, Overland Park and Deborah Betsch, Cincinnati; paternal grandparents Aleen and Gary Dennis, Overland Park and Berna Hughes, Gardner; Rhys McNeal of Olathe- a cousin who was treated more like a brother and made to feel like one of the gang every time he was over even though he was 15 years younger. Brenden is also survived by countless aunts, uncles and cousins who loved and cherished him. He is proceeded in death by two grandfathers; Terry Hughes of Grandview and Anthony Betsch of Cincinnati.
Brenden lived a quiet life and never wished to be a burden on anyone. A celebration of his life is being planned for May.
