Bruce Ernest Preston

Bruce Ernest Preston, 82, Independence, Mo passed away October 18, 2017 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, from complications of pneumonia. A memorial gathering will be held 1-3 PM on Monday, October 23, 2017, at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, Mo 64133.
Mr. Preston was born February 21, 1935 in Rapid City, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Alva and Margaret (Glass) Preston and a younger brother Wesley Preston.
He is survived by his wife Jo Ellen Preston of the home, his children from his first marriage; Jay and Mary Ann, step-daughter Shelli Griffith Smee, grandchildren; Jeffrey Lucas Preston, Sarah Rose Preston, Coal Preston, Piper Leigh Bailey, Sean Wayne Byrum and Erin Diane Byrum and two great-grandsons; Landon Thomas Bailey and Deaglan Gunner Bailey.
Bruce served his country honorably as a member of the US Navy during the Korean War. He fathered 2 children with his first wife Rosemary Witt. He had numerous interests and loved to keep himself busy, some of those are; fishing, hunting, photography, gardening, bird watching, woodworking and creating art. He was a computer enthusiast. He worked 24 years at Intercontinental Engineering and Manufacturing Corporation, and later retired as a maintenance engineer.
