Burt J. Truster, Jr.

Burt J. Truster, age 78, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away March 6, 2012 at John Knox Village Care Center, Lee’s Summit, Missouri. The family will hold a private celebration of Burt’s life.

Burt was born March 18, 1933 in Chanute, Kansas. He graduated from Chanute High School, Chanute, Kansas in 1951.  Burt served his country in the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy Reserve. Burt Graduated from Wichita State University in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.  Burt had an active and varied business career spanning five decades.  He worked for Stanley Spurrier and Co., CPA from 1956-1965, he was part owner and financial advisor for Shakey’s Pizza from 1965-1970, commercial sales manager at Wayne Regan Realtors from 1970-1975, owner Burt J. Truster Company, Commercial Realtors 1975-1984 and owner Truster Developers 1984-2009.  Burt’s professional affiliations included Missouri and Kansas Board of Realtors, Past President Johnson County Board of Realtors (commercial division), Director Johnson County Board of Realtors and City of Lee’s Summit TIF Commission.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Sharon Truster; 3 children, Laura Moyer (Steve), Mitch Truster (Michelle) and Logan Truster (Cathleen); 2 step children, Gretchen Downey and Melanie Trantham (David); 8 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren; 3 sisters and 2 brothers.  The family wishes to acknowledge the loving and attentive care Burt received from Meda Hernandez and staff in the Sun Ridge Community at John Knox Village Care Center.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions to Animals Best Friend, P.O.
