Byrle McFadden

A. Byrle McFadden, 92, passed away August 18, 2005 at Carondelet Manor. Cremation with services pending. She was born October 13, 1912 in Sperry, OK, the only child to Sam and Marie Maybee. Byrle spent her early years in Merwin, MO with her grandparents. She married R. Burgess McFadden on May 21, 1937 and although they spent some of their married life in areas other than Kansas City, her children remember the years for 19461963 at Quivira Lake, KS best. She and her husband introduced their children to fishing, camping, canoeing, swimming and boating. She was one of the founders of the Ozark Wilderness Waterways Club (probably the largest canoe club in the US). She loved her oil paints and ceramics. She and Burgess were co-owners of the Shur-Start Battery Manufacturing Co. When they retired they moved to Mesa, AZ where they lived for 17 years prior to returning to the Kansas City area. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years in February of 1998 and her grandson, Jim Wesley in 1991. Survivors include a half-brother, Ronald Maybee, Lake of the Ozarks; daughter, Lois Laverne, Cleveland, OH; daughter, Connie Wesley, Independence, MO; son, Robert B. “Bob” McFadden II, Kansas City, MO; three granddaughters, Laura Laverne, Nancy Elhallak and Carol Laverne, all of OH; two great-granddaughters, Leila and Riana Elhallak, OH; one great grandson, Christopher Wesley, KS; and one great-great-grandson, James Bradley Wesley, KS. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Byrle’s caregivers: Kay, Brenda and Judy who took care of our mother when she lived with Connie, the fantastic staff at Carondelet Manor and, last but not least, our team from Grace Hospice who helped make Mom’s passing an easy journey and gave us comfort and support.
