Byron Van Williams

Byron Van Williams, 73, passed away April 10, 2026. He was born on April 22, 1952 to Willa and Willie Williams in Kansas City, MO.

Better known as “Chip,” he will be fondly remembered by many from his time at Paseo High School, the Thornberry Boys’ Club, and the Magic Disco, where he was a dynamic DJ. He also shared his creativity and talent as a gifted hair stylist, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. Chip was a kind, caring person with a contagious laugh. He was quite the comedian and jokester.

He was preceded in death by: parents; brothers, Emmett Crook, Jr and Adrian Williams; sister, Twila Byers; and nephew, Paris Williams.

Chip will be deeply missed and forever loved by his son, Byron Bibbs (Chipper); sister, Denise Williams and Jamila Shakur-Price; a host of nieces and nephews; his companion LaGail Chism; the Chism family; and special friends.

    My last time seeing Chip was at a concert in parade park about 5 yrs. Ago. My Thought’s and prayer’s We laughed about old times in my neighborhood on 40th College. Chip was a funny and cool friend! My Thought’s and prayer’s to the family! (RIH) 2nd Corrithians 5:8
