Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute
Caleb Dan Young, 25, Raytown, Mo, passed away Sept. 9, 2016. Caleb was a loving, big hearted free spirit. He was never one to go with the crowd and always stood up for what he believed in. Caleb was with us for a very short 25 years and there will never be enough words to express our loss.
We, as a family, admired many things about Caleb from his hard working attitude, to his ability to make someone laugh even during their worst moments.
Caleb had three lady loves that lived with him, his 2 precious girls Roxy and Penny and his kitty Lily. He enjoyed spoiling them with treats and time at the dog park, to coming to Gamie’s house to play with Chloe.
One of Caleb’s newest and proudest loves was his nephew Keaten Ray, or as he called him “my baby!’ He was so excited to go shopping when he found out Keaten was on his way and insisted that Keaten get socks, because, “every baby needs cute socks’. He loved to hold Keaten and love on him and just admired him every minute. We will always make sure Keaten knows he was loved by you.
Caleb accomplished a lot in his 25 short years, always a hard worker from the day he turned 15 1/2 and got a job at the local Sonic as the first male car hop. He didn’t care, he had dreams and it was a job!
Caleb had many hobbies including swimming, kayaking, camping, his love of Beyonce and Mary J. Blige, to dancing with his mama and blaring, at the tops of their lungs, to Purple Rain. Caleb also treasured time with friends, who over the past week are heart broken, but sharing wonderful memories. One of his brother’s favorite memories is when Caleb bought Aubrey, Rachel and himself a small plane tour over the local town as Aubrey’s graduation gift. One of his “baby sister’s” favorite memories is every morning before school, Caleb would drive her to the Sonic and buy her a Dr. Pepper. He was also her ‘riding’ partner on their many trips to Silver Dollar City.
There are many memories of our Caleb, not just for us, but for his friends as well, so we encourage you to share those memories with us, whether by writing them down or sharing a copy of your favorite photo. They will be used in the making of a book in Caleb’s memory.
In Caleb’s final big hearted gesture, he was an organ donor, so others could have time to “make memories.”
I was so very honored to be Caleb’s mom, or ‘Madre’ as he called me and Jimmy was so honored to be his dad. Good times or hard times kiddo… It was still time with you.
We, as a family, are choosing to celebrate Caleb’s life how he would have wanted, a picnic with family and friends together. Caleb’s picnic will be held on September 24, 2016 at 2 pm at Legacy Park, Shelter #1, in Lee’s Summit, Mo . Please bring your smiles, funny stories and precious memories.
As we are a blended family, Caleb had many who loved him, including Aubrey and Shannon, Rachel and Spencer, Baby Keaten, Nic and Kristi, and Bre. Caleb also leaves behind his father Warren Young and wife Robin as well as her daughters Liz, Stephanie and Sara. He leaves behind his precious loves Roxy, Penny and kitty Lily.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local animal shelter in Caleb’s name.
We will love you “To The Moon and Back”, always and forever. Thank you for making our lives so much funnier and sweeter Caber. We Love You!
So sorry for your loss . He was a fine young man . Dave & Faye
I am so sorry for your loss. The girls (Liz, Steph, and Sara) absolutely loved Caleb, and my heart goes out to each and every one on you.
Caleb was the kind of person that you don’t forget. I knew him all through school, we weren’t close but he definitely wasn’t a person you could ignore. He was a person who knew who he was from a young age and he was one of the few who genuinely did not care what others thought of him. To have that kind of spirit and to be who you truly are without fear is a special gift.
I had the pleasure of working with Caleb at the Butler. One of a kind, handsome, hardworking, caring and funny are only a few ways to describe Caleb. I am so sorry to hear of his passing and his family will be in my heart. RIP to such a young sweet soul. ?

So sorry for your loss! I went to House of Heavilin with Caleb where most of the younger students called me Momma Sherita. Outside of school I would run into Caleb all over Raytown. Every time I would see him I couldn’t help but to smile! Such a beautiful heart and was always positive and upbeat! He will be truly missed! I pray that God comforts you and give you strength during this time in need! Much Love, Sherita Jordan
Im so sorry for your loss ,i worked with caleb at Phillips 66 he was a great guy always had us laughing, caleb is one of a kind an we are goin to miss him like crazy .Caleb you will never be forgotten love .
I met Caleb through a mutual friend, Brad. When I met Caleb, he was working at Taco Bell two blocks from my house. I would only go there if he was working. No matter the line, he was funny and full of joy. Though I only knew Caleb for a short 2 years, he was an awesome person. He stopped by just to say hi and to see what was going on in life. I called and/or texted to see how he was doing and how his new job in Gladstone was. I miss those conversations and listening to him sing his favorite songs just because. He will definitely be missed for years to come. Caleb was a great soul and an awesome person. Though I never had the pleasure of meeting his mother, she did a wonderful job parenting him!!!
