Carolyn J. Carruth

Carolyn June Carruth went to be with her Lord & Savior on Saturday, August 6, 2011.  A Celebration of Carolyn’s Life will be held Saturday, Aug. 20, @3:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church with Brother Dave Schawo officiating.  Carolyn was born Oct. 26, 1934, to Aubrey “Babe” & Bufa Forsee Carruth.  She graduated from Hickman in 1952.  She loved animals of all kinds & started raising & showing American Saddle Bred horses and later AKC Registered Pugs producing many champions from her bloodlines.  She was raised & baptized at Wilkes Blvd Methodist Ch. where she taught children’s Sunday School.  In 1995 she joined Midway Heights Baptist Church by baptism.  She later joined Calvary Baptist Church  She loved to sing in her church choirs and wrote poetry all her life.  She was a published poet and wrote some children’s books.  She was Pres. of the “Evergreens Sr. Adult Ministry” & Sec/Treas of Vivien Craven Mission Group at Calvary Baptist.   She was a member of Landers (CA) Moose Lodge and Past Senior Regent.  She worked at McDonnell-Douglas (now Boeing) in Columbia & California; she took early retirement from the Univ. of MO, and then worked for the Central MO Food Bank.

She enjoyed a Dixie Cream Donut with her coffee every morning and could eat a steak taco for dinner every night at Rio Grande Restaurant (If she could get away with it).  Carolyn is survived by her niece Linda LaVere & great nephews Deven & Justin LaVere of Columbia; nephew Scott Carruth of Quincy, extended family members & many dear friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bobby Carruth.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Shepherd’s Basket Food Pantry c/o Calvary Baptist Church, 606 Ridgeway Ave.
