Carolyn “Sue” Cowart

Carolyn “Sue” Cowart was born on November 18, 1937 to Carlene Boddy and Donald Wayman Tann in Kansas City, Kansas. She passed away peacefully at her home on October 24, 2023.

She attended Paseo High School, graduating in 1955. She began working at Southwestern Bell where she met Fred L. Cowart, and they married in 1958. Her career was spent in the banking industry at Blue Ridge Bank, and then First Federal Bank, retiring at the age of 70.

Sue loved to dance and socialize, and befriended many over the years.

Fred passed away in 1992. She later met Larry E. Hoyer and spent many years at the Lake of the Ozarks and enjoying family and friends. Larry passed away in 2020.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents; husband Fred; son Donald; long time companion Larry and daughter-in-law Margaret Ann. Survivors include her son Thomas Cowart; daughter Susan Cowart and many, many beloved friends.

Visitation will be at 2pm, followed by a memorial service at 3pm, Monday, October 30, 2023 at Heartland Cremation and Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, Missouri 64133. Inurnment at a later date.

    My deepest condolences. She will be greatly missed by myself and so many others. Always a kind word and empathy for the problems others faced. She faced her own many challenges with grace and determination. I respected her immensely. God Speed Sue! I’m sure there is a crowd waiting for you so they can start the party. Love you!

    Sue was a wonderful person and friend! So many great memories of her and Larry at the lake…I will certainly miss her pudding shots and deviled eggs she Alway brought to the fish fry.. we had a lot of great conversations when we would gather at different party’s …. Love you Sue rest in peace my friend..you will be missed by the entire Landoll Lakehouse family!!!!???
