Catherine Elaine Elliott

Catherine Elaine Elliott (Cathy) of Overland Park, Kansas, was suddenly swept away from us and has been resting in the arms of Jesus since the early morning hours of June 28, 2016. She was born in Lockwood, Missouri, on August 25, 1950, to Linville Loren White and Ora Elizabeth Reynolds-White, who both preceded her in death along with a brother, Bob White.

Cathy was married to Dan Elliott for sixteen years and adored her two children from this marriage, Justin Kay Elliott and Jamie Lynn Elliott. Both survive her along with a nephew, Daniel White, and niece, Cheryl Crandall. Also surviving are four great nephews, one great niece, and a multitude of friends.

Although born in southern Missouri, Cathy lived most of her life in the Kansas City area graduating from Wyandotte High School and the Kansas City Area Vocational Technical School. She was a devoted, conscientious employee who took her work seriously and cherished her friends. If you were fortunate enough to have known her and called her friend, you were a friend for life.

In 2013, she lived out her dream of moving to Ketchikan, Alaska, where many others called her friend. She left her beloved Ketchikan – the rain and her new friends – last year to return home to Kansas City and longed to be two places at one time.

Cathy had an incredible knack for decorating her home and adorning herself – pure class. But her greatest attribute was placing others before herself. She is at peace, but her sweet spirit will be missed forever.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 9, 2016, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown MO 64133 (816-313-1677).

I hired Cathy at TransAm years ago. I loved her from the start. She was instrumental in building our company. Her sweet disposition, steady patience, and hard work ethic made Cathy a wonderful member of the TransAm team. John and I will always treasure her in our hearts.

I had the pleasure of helping Cathy find a new home when she moved back to the KC area last year and she was a joy to work with. I only wish I had actually been able to meet her in person. We were recently working on solidifying her purchase when I received the sad news of her passing. I will always remember her kind, sweet voice. Heaven has a new angel.

I have known Cathy my entire life as she was a very close friend to my mom and our family. Thinking back on all the times I spent with Cathy one thing about her rises above all the rest…her generous soul! She will be missed and I know that heaven received a very special angel. My heartfelt condolences to Jamie and Justin for the loss of their Mom and all the countless others that loved her.
