Cathey Gayle Caruthers Clark

Cathey Gayle Caruthers Clark, age 45, passed away peacefully after a long battle with Ogliodendroglioma (she called it “OgreDragon”) and Glioblastoma Mulitiforme, both brain cancers, on Friday, August 3, 2018, at The Villa on Blue Ridge, in Columbia. Cathey was born June 11, 1973, in Columbia, Mo., to Earl F. Caruthers and Mariea Hall Caruthers. She was a 1991 graduate of Hickman High School where she was active in 4-H, girl’s basketball coach’s assistant, and visited Russia for her senior trip. She graduated Stephens College in 1995, where she double majored in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education, and spent a semester abroad studying in Sydney, Australia.

Cathey married Orville F. Clark, Jr. from Houston, Texas on May 30, 1998. She worked as a nanny, and then as a call center operator at MidwayUSA, where she received multiple honors for her quality customer service. Cathey was dedicated to her many pets and supported Columbia Second Chance by organizing their holiday pet picture fund raisers for 18 years. She was a member of the Columbia Weavers and Spinners Guild and demonstrated spinning techniques to children annually at the fall Boone County Heritage Festival for 15 years.

She is survived by her husband, Orville; her parents, Earl and Mariea; her brother, Ben and his wife Jodi; two brothers-in-law; several aunts and uncles; nephews and nieces: Tanner Caruthers, Reece Caruthers, Elizabeth Peterson, Jason Cox, Michelle Cox, Brandon Cox, and Lisa Fellwock; and numerous cousins and great-nephews and great-nieces.

Family, friends, and others whose lives were touched by Cathey are invited to Midway Locust Grove United Methodist Church, 2600 N Locust Grove Church Rd., in Columbia, Mo., with visitation at 10:00am and services at 11:30am, on Saturday, August 11, 2018, to reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, just chat.

“With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: ‘Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and He will reside with
them, and they will be His people. And God Himself will reside with them. And He will wipe out every tear from
their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things
    have passed away.”
    Revelation 21:3,4

“And no resident will say: ‘I am sick.’ ”
    Isaiah 33:24
