Charles A. Kellogg

Charles A. Kellogg, 76, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023.

Charles Allen Kellogg was born as an only child of Charles and Harriett Kellogg on March 19, 1947.  Charlie graduated from Raytown High school in 1965. He enlisted as an Airborne Infantry in June of 1966. Charlie graduated Infantry Training and received his Paratrooper Wings in November of 1966. He went on to serve in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne in June 1967. Charlie was in Vietnam for all of the Tet Offensive, primarily in the A Shau Valley. He received several commendations for his valiant service which included a Bronze Star, The National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal along with his Parachute Badge. His service was completed in January of 1969. Following his military service, Charlie went on to graduate from William Jewell College in 1972 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.

Charlie met Barbara King while attending high school together. After graduating, Charlie did a year in college followed by two tours in Vietnam. Charlie and Barbara married in 1969. They had their only child together, Windy Kellogg.

Charlie continued to work-full -time while also taking classes full-time in order to receive his Master’s Degree in Public Administration. After obtaining his Master’s Degree his continued his education by receiving his Law Degree at UMKC while still working full-time.

Charlie met Sharon Fox while working together for the City of Independence at City Hall. Charlie and Sharon married in 1986. She had two children, Christian Fox and Angie Fox from her previous husband.

Charlie practiced as a local attorney for over thirty-five years until medically forced to retirement in 2023. Charles Kellogg was a good man who was greatly loved and appreciated by his friends, family, clients and professional acquaintances. He will be profoundly missed.

A Celebration of Life for Mr. Kellogg will be held from 3:00pm – 6:00pm, Thursday, November 16, 2023 at the Church of Jesus Christ, 705 W. Walnut, Independence, MO. Memorial service will be held at 3:30pm. Food will be served so you’re welcome to come enjoy a meal & share stories to honor Charles Kellogg as he will truly be missed.
