Charles Barnes

Charles Barnes, 70, Belton, MO, formerly of Raytown, MO passed away December 27, 2014 at his home in Belton after a courageous battle with cancer.  A visitation will be held Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 10:00 AM with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd. Raytown, MO.

Mr. Barnes was born December 8, 1944 in Rolla, MO.  He worked many years in the construction/concrete business before retiring in 2007 from Construction Industrial Laborers Local Union #663.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  He also enjoyed woodworking, playing pool and old cars.  Charles was a member of Lift Him Up Ministries.   He also participated in Cass County Relay for Life; Team Stronger and More Resilient.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Norman ‘Leo’ and Norma Barnes and his maternal and paternal grandparents. Survivors include his daughter, Brenda Adkison of Lee’s Summit, MO; son, CJ Barnes of Belton, MO; grandson, PJ West of Lee’s Summit, MO; brother, Harold Barnes of Overbrook, KS; sister, Judy Barnes of Lawrence, KS; half-sister, Mary Hulse and her husband Jeff of Fredricks, VA; many nieces and nephews.  Charles will forever live in the hearts of his family and friends.

The family requests that memorial donations be made in Charles’ name to Relay for Life of Cass County; Team Stronger and More Resilient. Repast will immediately follow services at Lift Him Up Ministries, 6940 James A. Reed Rd. Kansas City, MO.

The family also wishes to extend a very special thank you to his care team at the Sarah Cannon Cancer Network at Belton Regional Medical Center. Thank you for all of the compassion and care you have shown to Charles! Special thanks to:

    Mr. Charlie was a good man, of good character, with a good heart, a wonderful, loyal and true friend. My life was blessed to have known him. I will miss our weekend coffee dates, his calm spirit and his beautiful smile. Mr. Charlie, I will miss you always and will see you again one day. God will take care of you so Rest In Peace my forever friend.

    We never got to visit with Charles over the years,but he attended our brothers and sister funerals were we got to catch up on things that happened in our childhood.We the Family sends our Sympathy to Harold and Judy and Family Members our sincere sympathy for your Loss.May God Bless You and Keep you Save
