Charles “Charlie” Andrew Schmidt, 66, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025.
Charlie was a devoted father and proud grandfather who treasured time spent with his family. He is survived by his sister, Karen and four children: Russell, Joseph, Katelyn, and Alicia. His legacy lives on through his cherished grandchildren: Zelda, Rowan, Charlie Grace, Thomas, JR, Luke, Rachael, Willow, Brooklyn, and Conner.
Charlie’s warmth, humor, and steady presence touched the lives of all who knew him. Whether he was sharing stories, lending a hand, or simply enjoying a quiet moment with loved ones, he lived a life rooted in kindness.
Charlie had a deep love for God, his family, and the simple joys of life—whether it was a cold Pepsi, a slice of pizza, or the art of capturing moments through his camera lens. His passion for photography blossomed in his later years, allowing him to share his talent and teach others across the country. Throughout his life, Charlie wore many hats—working as a mechanic, network engineer, and photographer—each career a testament to his versatility and dedication. But it was the love he had for his family and the way he used his skills to inspire and connect with others that truly defined him.
Charlie will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Most everything I know about photography I learned from Charlie! He was a humble mentor, always willing to help and teach.
