Charles “Chas” J. Gallegos, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, went to be with the Lord on September 12, 2024. Born on August 26, 1940, in Denver, Colorado, Chas was the son of Abe and Nellie Gallegos, who, along with his brother Conrad, preceded him in death.
Chas is lovingly remembered by his wife of 31 years, Dawn; his five children; and his eight grandchildren. A proud graduate of the Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind, Chas carried his deep love for sports throughout his life. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan, he embraced all sports and had a particular fondness for bowling. One of his first jobs was as a pin setter at his local bowling alley, a testament to his lifelong passion.
In addition to his love for sports, Chas enjoyed woodworking and spent time tinkering in the garage on various projects, inspired by “This Old House”. He also enjoyed watching reruns of classic westerns from his childhood. He had a warm, inviting personality that made everyone around him feel welcomed. He loved to joke around and his constant smile brought light to every gathering.
Chas will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday September 19th at Parkade Baptist Church in Columbia Mo, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember a remarkable man who touched many lives with his kindness and joy.
Rest in peace, Chas. Your spirit will forever live in our hearts.
