Charles Hardman

Charles ?Chuck? Hardman of Olathe, KS passed away at home July 12 surrounded by loved ones after a short battle with cancer. Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, July 15 at 11:00 a.m. Grace United Methodist Church, Olathe, KS. There will be a ?party? following the services. Visitation will be Friday evening 7 ? 9 p.m. at Heritage United Methodist Church, Overland Park, KS.Charles ?Chuck? was a devoted son, father, grandfather, brother, husband, and remarkable friend. He was born on December 12, 1937 in Beloit, KS to Lewis A. Hardman and Marian Ryan Hardman. He was raised in Osborne, KS and attended Osborne High School, Wentworth Military Academy, and Fort Hays State College. Another of his achievements was earning his pilots license so that he could fly around the countryside. Charles ?Chuck? moved to Lawrence, KS in 1961 where he later started his business?Jayhawk Bowling Supply. Charles ?Chuck? was blessed with four children: John Hardman (wife Amy), and children Nathan and Alex of Lawrence, Ks; Mary Hardman Sites (husband Tim), and children Katie and Madison of Wichita, Ks; Kari Hardman McCune (husband Brad), and son Thomas Malinowsky of Manhattan, Ks; Bryan Hardman (wife Stashia), and children Halle, Peyton and Keller of Houston, Tx. Chuck was united in marriage to ?the love of his life,? Linda Taylor, on July 11, 1997 which added Linda?s children to the family: Jeannine (husband Patrick) Sharon; Julie (husband John) Kent; Jeffrey (wife Dena) Tull and grandchildren: Maycie, Whitney, Jakeb, Noah Sharon; Sage, Rose Kent; and Taylor Tull. Charles is survived by his mother, Marian Hardman, of Olathe; his sister, Mary Lew Carnahan and her husband George and their three sons, Steve, Craig and Mark Carnahan of Houston, TX. Charles was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Hardman, and his granddaughter, Hanna Marie Sites. Chuck was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church, Willowbrook United Methodist Church, The Bowling Proprietors? Association of America (BPAA) and was past president of the National Association of Independent Resurfacers (N.A.I.R.). He recently received lifetime achievement awards from the BPAA and Brunswick Bowling & Billiards for significant contributions to furthering the game and sport of bowling. In addition, Chuck will be inducted into the Kansas Bowling Proprietors? Hall of Fame, receiving a special service award later this month. Charles ?Chuck? enjoyed his semi-retirement in Sun City, AZ riding his Harley, playing golf, fishing with grandchildren, and keeping his friends busy. He was a great friend to all, a best friend to many, and has touched the lives of all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) mailed to Topeka Harley-Davidson, 2047 S. W. Topeka, Blvd., Topeka, KS 66612; (785) 234-6174 with Chuck Hardman mentioned in the memo. Chuck was a loyal supporter of MDA and Jerry?s kids most of his life. His remains will be interned at Willowbrook United Methodist Church in Sun City, AZ.
