Christopher Michael Silvers

Christopher Michael Silvers died on June 24, 2023, at the age of 57. Father of two and uncle to three, Chris will be happily remembered and sadly missed by his surviving family that includes his parents, L. Michael and Bonnie (Root) Silvers; his daughters Jessica J. and Sophia L. Silvers; his siblings Michele (Silvers) Payne and Curtis M. Silvers; and his nieces and nephew Morgan G. Silvers, Mallory L. Silvers, and Griffin W. Payne.

With an effortless and impromptu sense of humor, Chris kept family and friends laughing. He unapologetically lived life as a celebration and was the source of many family quips and funny stories. His favorite song was “I Just Want to Celebrate” by Rare Earth, which he would play incessantly, despite pleas to stop. At the same time, Chris was sensitive, loving and kind; deeply loyal to his friends and devoted to his family.

Chris was an avid sportsman and accomplished woodsman. He loved this Earth fully. With just a glance, he could identify every plant and tree and tell their characteristics. He could have a gruff exterior but would plant flowers every year and took great pride in making his lawn pristine. Favorite activities included early morning deer and bird hunts, skeet shooting, and riding his motorcycle. He would often haul his motorcycle from Missouri into the Colorado mountains so he could cruise. Characteristically, on a recent visit to his daughter in Hawaii, he rented a motorcycle and followed her car into the mountains of Koke’e. As she watched in the rear-view mirror, he had a big smile and was singing. When asked he laughingly replied, “Oh you saw that? I was singing Bohemian Rhapsody from start to finish.” In honor of Chris’ memory, “Here’s to celebrating another day of living.”

I miss you everyday Dad. Thank you for teaching me how to live my life to the fullest and to dream big. You have always believed in me. I promise to celebrate every day I have here. I’ve been listening to “I just want to celebrate” at least once a day since you left this earth, and I think I will continue to, it really is such a great song, sorry I pestered you to turn it off lol! I love you so very much.

I worked with Chris for 21 years. Over that time, he wasn’t just my coworker, he became one on my closest friends. More than any other person, we talked at work, went to lunch, and helped each other. We also hung out outside of work. We shot guns together, went to Royals games, and sometimes it was just grabbing a beer, listening to music and grilling some food. I have so many great memories and stories about Chris. I am going to miss my friend.

I never had a chance to share much time with Chris, my cousin, but the few times I remember him for his joyful smiles. My heart aches for his family as they grieve their loss. My deepest sympathies to all. RIP as you ride the clouds of heaven.

Chris taught me how to ski, I’ll always remember racing him down the slopes and how funny he was. Truly he was always the life of the party. Happy to have known him in this life.
