Claude I. Hampton

Claude I. Hampton, 90, passed away at home the morning of January 18, 2016, after a long illness.  Claude was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was born in Tazewell County, Virginia on October 25, 1925.  Married on July 4, 1952, to the love of his life, Violet Christian, they were married for nearly 60 years until her death in 2012. After their marriage, Claude and Vi moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he worked as a Foreman at the Rotor Tool Company until his retirement in 1991. In 1994, they moved from Willowick, Ohio to Lenexa, Kansas to be closer to their daughter Cheri and her children, Eric and Nicole.

Claude is survived by his daughter, Cheri Hampton, of the home, grandchildren Eric Paden & wife Brittany Bloom Paden of Dallas, Texas, and Nicole Kirkeby & husband Cpt Ryan Kirkeby of Fort Bliss, Texas. Other survivors include sisters Pauline Armes and Margaret Mullin, brother Roger Hampton, brothers-in-law Victor Christian and Phillip Christian, and sister-in-law Carol Burress. He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Hampton, his parents, H. D. and Julie Hampton, brothers Levi Hampton, Harlan Hampton, Bill Hampton, Fred Hampton, Frank Hampton, and sister, Edith Dillon.

A private family service will be held. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that a donation is made in his honor to the charity of your choice.
