Clyde Chapman

Clyde "Chappie" Chapman, 60, Palm Coast, FL, passed away March 6, 2009 at Riverside Nursing Center.  A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday March 11, 2009 at Lansing First Baptist Church, 306 4-H Road, Lansing, KS, 66043. A visitation will be held at 1 PM, prior to the service, at the church. Mr Chapman was born June 6, 1948 in Columbus, Ohio. Chappie attended school in California and returned to the midwest to grow up. He was a proud member of the US Naval Reserve. Chappie worked 18 years for Frederick Manufacturing (now Blount Manufacturing). After leaving Frederick Manufacturing Chappie pursued one of his first loves, Square Danicing, which is where he met Betty, his close friend and dancing partner for the last several years. They danced together as "Sir Chappie and Ladie Betty.  "Ripley’s Believe it or not" in Branson, MO, has recorded their accomplishment of Square Dancing for 101 consecutive nights, while dancing at least one night in each of the 48 states.  He was preceded in death by his father Clyde Chapman and his mother Meda Amber (Straub) Chapman.  Survivors include Betty Chapman, his square dancing partner for the last several years, his brothers; Bernard Chapman (wife, Barbara) and Albert Chapman (wife, Margaret) and many nephews, grand nephews and grand nieces.
